Scottish Learning Festival 2015
The countdown is on and there is less than 2 weeks until the Scottish Learning Festival 2015 at SECC, Glasgow.
The excitement is building here at Tablet Academy Scotland Headquarters and we are very happy to be involved in Scotland’s premier education event this year – it promises to be one of the best in the 15 year history of the show. There are some great new additions, including a showcase area for digital learning which we are delighted to be working with our partner, Intel to run and manage this area over the two day event.
Presentations and hands-on workshops all day, both days
Tablet Academy Scotland will be running the showcase presentation area dedicated to learning through digital technologies. Running continuously over both days, the showcase area will offer a varied and exciting programme of accessible 15 minute presentations, followed by Q+A/hands-on opportunities.
Tablet Academy is passionate about technology that can be embedded in classroom practice to enhance and transform learning, rather than as an add-on. The focus of these sessions is very much on the transformative potential of tablets and other digital technologies to change the kinds of activities that learners are engaged in and put technology firmly at the heart of learning.
Our boss Pam had this to say:
“From early years through to secondary and beyond, the showcase area will offer something for everyone and take account of key priorities in Scottish education such as 1+2 approach to languages and the raising attainment agenda.”
The programme is still being finalised but will cover a range of inspiring topics relevant to Scottish educators:
- raising attainment in literacy with key cross platform apps that could transform learning
- learning with Minecraft – so much more than just a game
- go paperless with OneNote digital classroom notebooks
- iPad apps early years parental involvement and recording achievement
- getting started with Google in the classroom
- Glow Office 365
- Flipping the classroom with resources you already have- Office Mix will save you time.
A pupil perspective…
We also have our very own P7 Digital Ninja, Evan showcasing iMovie, explaining how to get started with iMovie for learning and why it is a key app for the Youtube generation. Plus, the super-talented and truly inspirational Pam Currie, bringing digital technology highlights for the CfE classroom, with hands-on workshops for you to get involved.
